From Galway to Shetland

We started as a one-man band with John going self-employed as a plasterer in 2015, only a couple of years after arriving in Shetland looking for new opportunities.

The business was born with John noticing a lack of plasterers in Shetland and, as such, realised there was a gap in the market for skilled, local plasterers.

From here, John would have a successful few years growing the business and getting the Fine Finishes name out there before an eye infection would result in everything grinding to a halt.

In the time on the side line, John made the decision to take the business in a new direction.

We incorporated as Fine Finishes Eco-Coatings Ltd in 2019 with a new renewed focus on becoming more eco-friendly, green and efficient for both ourselves and our clients & customers.

We received support from the Highlands & Islands Enterprise as part of their Young Company Scheme. This included a grant which gave us the opportunity to further invest in training, new machinery and equipment

With our continued commitment to eco-friendly alternatives to traditional skimming & coating methods, we work with CorkSol UK for a short while before becoming their exclusive distributor for Orkney & Shetland. We are the only approved applicator within the two northern isles too.

CorkSol UK are committed to providing sustainable solutions to renovation and new build coatings and continue to be the pioneers in the market.
